Kitchen Cabinets: Shelves and Hardware Door
and cabinet hardware tips Having installed hundreds of doors and built and
installed a similar number of cabinets I'd like to share some of the things I've
observed over the years. Hardware
for doors is actually a pretty broad subject. These
are broken down into two categories, residential and commercial. For
any door I always suggest getting heavy grade hardware. The reason being that
doors get a lot of use. Probably more so than anything else in the house. Hinges
should be of high quality and for a classier look should be square not rounded
corner hinges. Nothing
looks worse than an expensive custom home with cheap rounded hinges on the doors;
you see it all the time though. If
you want the brass look for your hardware realize that unless you purchase solid
brass hardware which is quite expensive, the finish is not very thick and it will
deteriorate. Go
for a brushed finish as opposed to a bright shiny finish for a longer lasting
look.
